Our Principles

Every Penny Counts

One of the founding principles of Friends of NCF is that every penny that is donated to the project goes directly to the work of NCF in Uganda. All administration fees are covered personally and/or privately. This means that all bank charges, accountancy fees, website costs, printing, stamps, travel expenses, event costs (even down to the tea and coffee) are not taken from your donations. This is very important to us.

Trustee Visits

The Trustees of Friends of NCF have regular contact with Christine Kasapuli (NCF Project Director) and Harriet Amoding (NCF Administrator) in Namuwongo via phone, email and WhatsApp (very popular in Uganda!). This enables us to keep in touch with activities and challenges at the project.

However, there is no substitute for a personal visit and face-to-face meetings. The Trustees are committed to ensuring that there is a minimum of one visit every year so that we can meet with the staff, spend time in the classrooms, get to know the children (Primary, Secondary, Vocational and Further), visit the slum community and some of the homes of the school children, meet with the students who are sponsored by ‘Friends’, see the benefits of the social work and meet with the NCF Directors to ensure that good governance is in place.

If you are interested in visiting the project and the slum community yourself, please let us know. We would be delighted to discuss this further with you.

The Personal Touch

We endeavour to keep you up to date with progress and developments at the project via emails, our Facebook page and regular events. One of the huge benefits of this charity is the fact that we know all of the team personally.

The Trustees are all based locally in Milford on Sea and Lymington and we actively encourage local ownership and participation in the great work of NCF.

We are always happy to take gifts for sponsor children when we visit and we always try to take photos and/or videos to send directly to the sponsors. This all helps to provide a real sense of personal involvement with the project and a direct connection with Namuwongo.

Registered Charity

Friends of Namuwongo Community Foundation is a registered UK charity (Reg. Charity No. 1149786). The Trustees take their responsibilities seriously to ensure that we fully comply with UK charity regulations e.g. filing accounts, financial audits, Gift Aid reclaim, etc.

We meet regularly and file minutes of our formal meetings. We hold an AGM (Annual General Meeting) to which all supporters are invited. This typically takes place a month after the annual Trustee visit to the project.
